A little bit of a recap...first two days of the New York Popfest etc

I'm finally back in New York after ten days on the road with Allo Darlin'. It's been awesome, but now it's nice to have a bit of a break from the live music. I will write a long tour photo diary thing when I get back to Britain, but for now I thought I'd just do a bit of a re-cap of the first week in Big Apple.

New York is such an amazing place to just walk around. So much colour and life everywhere.

It was three years since the original Polaroid was taken, but we managed to find the location of the Polaroid Song single cover.

Cover for the remix?

The first night of the popfest was at Cake Shop on the Lower East Side. A lovely little venue, but it was incredibly hot so I ended up missing most of the bands. I had planned to watch Veronica Falls and Elephant Parade, but in the end I only saw bits of Leaving Mornington Crescent.

On Friday it was time for some indiepop catching up. An ace line-up at Don Hills. The Smittens were great as usual, Allo Darlin played an incredible set (which even got them on the front page of the New York Times arts section...and main website...for a while anyway) and Pants Yell! played their last ever New York gig. A pretty perfect pop night.

Then it was time for dancing and hanging out with old friends. Johnny Rotten was in the bar across the road, but he decided against Don Hills...probably for the best since he was in the mood for "sum facking techno!". Colin of The Smittens went up and shook his hand, but sadly nobody was there to document it. What a Kodak moment, now gone forever.

Chuck Taylor is never far away at a Popfest

I'm going to leave it there for now.....I'll do Saturday separately....it was also pretty awesome...in a completely different way.
